Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
The undersigned scholars, imams, and organisations announce to the Muslim community in New Zealand that, according to our adopted Imkān al-Ru’yah methodology, the following dates have been determined:
– 1 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447H: Monday, 18 May 2026
– 9 Dhu al-Hijjah, the Day of Arafah: Tuesday, 26 May 2026
– 10 Dhu al-Hijjah, Eid al-Adha: Wednesday, 27 May 2026
This declaration is based on the astronomical calculation of moon sightability within our regional zone and is in line with established Imkān al-Ru’yah standards adopted by recognised international scholarly bodies.
We acknowledge and respect that other scholars, imams, and organisations in New Zealand may follow different opinions on this matter. We encourage all Muslims to uphold mutual respect, adab, and unity.
As we approach these blessed days, let us increase in dhikr, du‘ā, fasting, sacrifice, charity, and support for our brothers and sisters around the world who are facing hardship and oppression.
May Allah accept our worship, unite our community upon goodness, and grant relief to the oppressed.
Please refer to the attached announcement for full details.
